Location: Western Kentucky

Compensation: $85,000-$95,000 base

Summary:

A specialized manufacturer serving the aerospace and defense industry is seeking a Buyer to manage tactical purchasing for complex, mission-critical components. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a lean manufacturing environment and is comfortable wearing multiple hats across the procurement process.

Responsibilities:

• Execute tactical purchasing activities for engineered products with intricate parts and assemblies
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers
• Ensure compliance with ITAR, FAR, and DFAR regulations
• Collaborate cross-functionally with logistics, contracts, and MRO teams
• Maintain ERP records and purchasing documentation (IFS system preferred)
• Support government contract requirements and approval processes
• Manage supplier relationships and performance metrics

Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing or regulated industries
• Bachelor's degree required
• Familiarity with government contracts, ITAR, FAR/DFAR
• Experience with ERP systems (IFS highly preferred)
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a background check (required for explosive materials licensing)
• Automotive or defense industry experience is a plus
• Comfortable working independently in a lean, hands-on environment
