Location: Gaithersburg, MD (On-site at least 60%)

Overview

Cognizant is hiring a Biocentre Tech Lead to manage technology delivery for lab integration and orchestration at the HBS Biobanking facility in Gaithersburg, MD. This role demands hands-on leadership in lab automation, system integration, and instrumentation support within a compliance-driven environment.

Position: W2 Contract

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the Biocentre IT Team.
• Act as a technical liaison with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Lead integration of laboratory instruments with data management systems.
• Collaborate with system integrators on technical delivery and environments.
• Align instrumentation, orchestration software, and LIMS systems.
• Oversee installation and maintenance of lab hardware and instrumentation.
• Configure and support HBS Bank (LIMS), including lab printers and instruments.
• Support lab automation and optimization initiatives.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and SME-level support to stakeholders.
  
  

Requirement Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical discipline.
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
• Experience with software installation, IT systems, and lab software integration.
• Proven success working with system integrators and hardware vendors.
• Understanding of GxP and ITQMF compliance frameworks.
• Familiarity with lab network interfacing.
• Experience with middleware platforms (e.g., Mulesoft) is a plus.
• Exposure to orchestration software and lab automation preferred.
• Understanding of validation processes in Lab IT environments is a plus.
• Willing to be onsite in Gaithersburg, MD at least 60% of the time.
