Job Summary
Dry Lane Construction is a self performing commercial construction contractor seeking dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to perform our accounting tasks and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Duties
- Perform full spectrum of corporate accounting functions, including general ledger management, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other relevant standards.
- Lead month-end, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reports.
- Process payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Manage compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and assist in internal audit preparations.
- Maintain accounting systems QuickBooks and with Procore support.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and journal entries to ensure data integrity across all financial records.
- Assemble regulatory reporting obligations related to governmental accounting standards and non-profit accounting practices when applicable.
- Facilitate budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to support strategic decision-making.
- Handling of confidential information with integrity while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws including securities law and wills, trusts & estate law.
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred, Finance or related field.
- Extensive experience in public accounting or corporate finance roles with a strong background in financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero.
- Proven expertise in technical accounting concepts including accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and account reconciliation.
- Deep understanding of GAAP standards along with familiarity with SEC reporting requirements for publicly traded companies.
- Experience managing SOX compliance initiatives and implementing internal controls for audit readiness.
- Knowledge of prevailing wage requirements for commercial construction.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Excellent leadership abilities with experience mentoring teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as spreadsheets for detailed financial analysis and report writing.
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while ensuring regulatory compliance across all functions.
