What You’ll Do
- Accurately enter new and refill prescriptions into the pharmacy system, including patient demographics, prescriber information, drug ingredients, strengths, dosage forms, quantities, directions, days’ supply, and refill details.
- Review prescription orders for completeness and identify missing, unclear, or inconsistent information that requires pharmacist review or prescriber clarification.
- Enter and maintain patient, prescriber, clinic, shipping, allergy, and billing information with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Support compounded prescription workflow by capturing formula-specific details, route of administration, flavoring or dosage form preferences, package size, and special handling notes when applicable.
- Communicate professionally with patients, clinics, prescribers, and internal team members to obtain information, answer non-clinical questions, and route clinical questions to the pharmacist.
- Coordinate with pharmacists, compounding technicians, fulfillment, shipping, billing, and customer service teams to help prescriptions move efficiently through the pharmacy.
- Monitor queues, resolve data entry tasks, prioritize urgent orders, and help maintain timely turnaround while meeting quality and accuracy expectations.
- Follow pharmacy policies, HIPAA requirements, Texas State Board of Pharmacy rules, and applicable compounding pharmacy procedures.

Requirements
- Certification: Active Certified Pharmacy Technician registration or license with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (required).
- Experience: Pharmacy technician experience required; prescription data entry, retail pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, or compounding pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
- Skills: Strong typing accuracy, computer proficiency, attention to detail, phone etiquette, and ability to interpret prescription information within technician scope.
- Physical Ability: Comfortable working on your feet and lifting 10 lbs consistently, up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Availability: Must be able to work 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. M-F and 9:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. one Saturday every month.
- Background: Must pass a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests.
