Position Summary
The Dispatch Manager is responsible for leading daily dispatch operations, managing team performance, and ensuring the efficient movement of freight. This role is critical to maintaining service levels, optimizing operations, and supporting company growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop dispatch team members
- Oversee daily load planning, driver assignments, and freight movement
- Monitor real-time operations and resolve service disruptions
- Ensure effective use of McLeod and other TMS platforms
- Coordinate with customers, brokers, and intermodal/rail partners
- Optimize routes, asset utilization, and operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and company policies
- Analyze KPIs and operational data to improve performance and reduce costs
- Maintain accurate reporting and operational documentation
- Support hiring, onboarding, and team development
- Partner with leadership on SOPs and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or dispatch operations
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of intermodal and/or rail operations
- Experience with McLeod or similar TMS systems
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Work Environment & Expectations
- Office-based role with frequent communication and system use
- Fast-paced, high-pressure environment requiring quick decision-making
- Availability to support operations, including after-hours or weekends as needed
- Focus on accountability, leadership, and continuous improvement
