Communications Technician
Schenectady, NY
Department: IT / Communications
Schedule:
Week 1: Monday On, Tuesday On, Wednesday Off, Thursday Off, Friday On, Saturday On, Sunday On.
Week 2: Monday Off, Tuesday Off, Wednesday On, Thursday On, Friday Off, Saturday off, Sunday Off
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor network systems and communication links between retailers, terminals, and central systems to identify outages or disruptions.
- Receive and document incoming support calls and tickets from retailers, field staff, and internal users.
- Perform basic troubleshooting for network connectivity, communication devices, and related hardware.
- Escalate unresolved or complex issues to senior technicians or network engineers following established procedures.
- Track and report recurring issues, outages, or performance trends to management.
- Maintain detailed service logs and ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
- Support periodic system testing, upgrades, and equipment rollouts as directed.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with retailers, vendors, and internal departments.
- Adhere to company security and compliance standards required for state lottery operations.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or technical coursework preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in communications, network monitoring, or technical support.
- Experience in a regulated or customer service environment preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of network systems and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to follow established procedures and escalate issues appropriately.
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and organizational skills.
- Reliable, professional, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with good organizational and documentation skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced support environment.
