What are the responsibilities and job description for the TLC Course Instructor #2 position at Driver Training Center?
Teach New York's next for-hire drivers, on your schedule. $30–$35 per teaching hour. Part-time. Pick the classes you want.
AA Driver Training Center is a TLC driver training school with locations in Flushing and Brooklyn. We're looking for experienced TLC course instructors. You decide how many classes you teach. We provide lesson plans, materials, and paid instructor training before your first class.
Classes you can teach
- New TLC Licensing Class (24 hours)
- Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) Class (3.5 hours)
- TLC License Renewal Class (4.5 hours)
What you'll do
- Teach from our lesson plans in an upbeat, interactive way
- Take attendance and run quizzes, exercises, and class activities
- Help every student understand the material
- Stay current on NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) rules and share updates in class
What you bring
Must-haves
- At least 1 year of experience teaching TLC classes or working in the for-hire vehicle industry
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Patience, a caring attitude, and a real interest in teaching adults
- Ability to build a positive, productive classroom
Nice to have
- Bilingual in Spanish, Bengali, Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), Hindi, Urdu, Korean, Russian, or another language. Tell us which languages you can teach in.
New to teaching? Former TLC students with strong English (plus another language) are welcome to apply for our instructor training.
