Automotive Service Advisor / Service Writer

Overview

DriveCenter Complete Auto Care is seeking an experienced Automotive Service Advisor / Service Writer to join our team in Ocala, Florida.

Our automotive repair location has served Ocala drivers since 1991. Under current family ownership, DriveCenter Complete Auto Care has continued building on that long-standing local history with a renewed focus on honest recommendations, clear communication, accurate diagnostics, and quality repairs.

As a Service Advisor, you will serve as the primary connection between our customers and technicians. You will guide customers through the repair process, explain recommended services, prepare accurate estimates, provide timely updates, and help ensure a professional experience from vehicle drop-off through final delivery.

The ideal candidate has automotive service experience, communicates confidently, stays organized in a fast-paced environment, and understands how to present repair recommendations with honesty and professionalism.

Compensation ranges from $50,000 to $85,000 per year based on experience and performance. This position includes base pay with performance-based earning opportunities. Experienced, high-performing advisors have the opportunity to earn at the top of the posted range.

Duties

• Greet customers professionally and create a welcoming service experience
• Listen carefully to customer concerns and accurately document vehicle symptoms
• Prepare complete repair orders, estimates, and service recommendations
• Review technician findings and digital vehicle inspections
• Explain recommended repairs, maintenance services, pricing, and estimated completion times clearly
• Help customers prioritize repairs based on safety, urgency, vehicle needs, and budget
• Present recommended services confidently without using high-pressure sales tactics
• Obtain customer authorization before repairs begin
• Coordinate with technicians and parts personnel to maintain an efficient shop workflow
• Keep customers updated throughout the repair process
• Communicate additional findings, delays, pricing changes, and completion times promptly
• Review completed work and confirm that repair orders and invoices are accurate
• Process payments and maintain complete customer and vehicle records
• Follow up with customers when needed to ensure satisfaction
• Maintain an organized, professional, and efficient front office
• Build long-term customer relationships that encourage repeat business and referrals

Experience

• Previous experience as an Automotive Service Advisor, Service Writer, or in a similar automotive customer-facing position is strongly preferred
• Two or more years of automotive service experience is preferred
• Strong working knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair processes
• Familiarity with tires, brakes, wheel alignments, suspension, steering, air conditioning, diagnostics, batteries, cooling systems, and general automotive repair
• Experience reviewing digital vehicle inspections and preparing repair estimates
• Experience with Tekmetric or another automotive shop management system is preferred
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to explain technical information clearly to customers
• Comfortable discussing repair costs and presenting service recommendations with confidence and integrity
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to multitask and remain professional in a fast-paced repair shop
• Strong attention to detail when preparing estimates, repair orders, and invoices
• Previous experience as an automotive technician, parts professional, or automotive salesperson is a plus
• Basic computer, phone, and payment-processing skills
• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Reliable transportation to and from work

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Day shift
• Monday through Friday
• Saturday availability may be required based on business needs
• No overnight shifts
