Position Overview

We are seeking highly skilled Tool and Die Technicians to support our manufacturing and production operations. The ideal candidates will have strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting abilities, with experience maintaining and repairing injection molding, die, and auxiliary equipment.

Level A Technicians are expected to lead complex troubleshooting, perform major overhauls, train other technicians, and assist in advanced control and robotics repair.
Level B Technicians will focus on general equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance tasks, and assist in production support and equipment installations under guidance.

Key Responsibilities

General Equipment & Utilities

  • Perform mechanical and electrical overhauls on all production and non-production equipment.

  • Access and monitor PLCs for troubleshooting and basic programming adjustments.

  • Bring all plant utilities online for production start-up, including cooling towers, air compressors, and dryers.

  • Calibrate and maintain electrical controls such as hot runner systems, thermolators, and barrel heaters.

  • Diagnose, repair, and replace control boards, power supplies, servo drives, amplifiers, and frequency drives.

  • Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of all electrical and mechanical plant utilities.

  • Identify potential equipment issues by monitoring sounds, movement, and appearance.

Mechanical, Pneumatic & Hydraulic Systems

  • Remove, rebuild, and reinstall multistage hydraulic and pneumatic pumps, valves, and cylinders.

  • Troubleshoot and repair rod-less air cylinders, regulators, and vacuum systems (lines, valves, and cups).

  • Adjust and synchronize multi-cylinder operations and related sensors in series circuits.

  • Check and adjust hydraulic pressures for injection molding machines and KPM systems.

  • Rebuild and maintain adhesive spray equipment, pneumatic screw guns, and hot melt systems.

  • Diagnose and repair high-pressure cylinders, check valve assemblies, and booster pumps used in water jet cutting equipment.

Electrical Systems & Controls

  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and facility drawings.

  • Perform electrical repairs including receptacles, lighting, fuses, coils, and heater circuits.

  • Wire motor starters and heater circuits; verify and adjust 3-phase motor rotation.

  • Troubleshoot robot programming points and realign to approved positions.

  • Work within control panels on injection molding and KPM equipment to repair starters, breakers, and wiring.

  • Understand and apply metric measurements and torque specifications.

Tool, Die & Production Support

  • Conduct preventive maintenance (P.M.) work orders, ensuring completion and documentation.

  • Perform machine setups, leveling, and anchoring of equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and correct poor part appearance related to mold or machine performance.

  • Operate welding and cutting equipment (MIG, TIG, stick, and acetylene torch).

  • Use overhead cranes safely to move light and heavy loads.

  • Offload and install new machinery from trucks as needed.

Safety & Leadership

  • Understand fire pump houses, sprinkler risers, alarms, and emergency generators.

  • Ensure safe lockout/tagout procedures and compliance with plant safety standards.

  • Train and mentor other technicians on proper repair, troubleshooting, and safety procedures.

  • Generate work orders for parts and perform group leader responsibilities when required.

  • Maintain organized tools and workspace; must possess basic tools (screwdrivers, hammer, adjustable wrench, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment (Level B).

  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience with advanced repair, installation, and troubleshooting (Level A).

  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting (Siemens or Allen-Bradley preferred).

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics.

  • Strong knowledge of servo systems, frequency drives, and automation controls.

  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Safety-conscious with a proven ability to work independently or lead others.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in injection molding, tool and die repair, or automated manufacturing systems.

  • Experience working with KPM systems or robotics integration.

  • Understanding of predictive and preventive maintenance systems (PM programs, CMMS).

Preferred Shifts:

  • 2nd Shift: 2:00pm-10:30pm ($1.00 shift premium)

  • 3rd Shift: 10:00pm-6:30am ($1.00 shift premium)
