The rehabilitation manager in coordination with the rehabilitation director is responsible to ensure that the services delivered within the Rehabilitation Services departments of Driscoll Children’s Hospital (physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, audiology) are provided to patients in an efficient, effective and patient/family centered manner.

- Maintains the utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
- Facilitates departmental education and compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Responsible for scheduling of DCH rehabilitation staff.
- Responsible for monitoring inpatient and outpatient census to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Actively facilitates the competency assessment of staff.
- Monitors productivity levels and takes corrective action as needed.
- Completes departmental orientation.
- Monitors staff compliance with organizational compliance requirements
- Initiates and supports departmental and cross-functional performance improvement activities.
- Ensures departmental compliance with regulatory standards
- Demonstrates competency in the investigation, reporting and resolution of patient, staff and visitor incidents and complaints.
- Participates in departmental strategic planning.
- Works to align the departmental goals with the goals of the organization.
- Utilizes hospital resources in order to meet departmental needs.
- Communicates with referring and community stakeholders (physicians, case managers, payers, etc…) to maximize patient care, establish a professional relationship and develop a consistent referral base.
- Attends and participates in departmental and hospital meetings as required.
- Facilitates staff meetings as a means to disseminate information and provide education.
- Manages departmental activities within budgetary limits.
- Participates in the recruitment of personnel.
- Will occasionally drive for Driscoll Children’s Hospital business.
- May be required to work at an alternate location (inpatient or outpatient based on skill set) to support patient care needs
- May provide direct patient care as appropriate.
- Assesses patient needs by selecting, administering and interpreting appropriate evaluation tools.
- Educates patient and family members regarding evaluation findings and recommendations/plan of care.
- Develop goals that are functional, developmentally appropriate, time-sensitive and measurable.
- Complies with clinical documentation requirements.
- Develops, instructs, and verifies an understanding of the home program as appropriate with patients and family members.
- Effectively administers performance management system including: 1) developmental feedback, 2) goal setting, 3) assesses competency, 4) progressive discipline, and 5) annual performance evaluations.
- Strong knowledge of and effective in administering hospital policies and procedures.
- Responsible for sound management of human resources.
- Makes and implements decisions compatible with organizational goals.
- Maintains composure, effectiveness, and flexibility under pressure.
- Provides clinical supervision and guidance to the following job classes under the direction of the Director of Rehabilitation Services: All Rehabilitation Services staff members, student affiliates, volunteers
- Bachelor's degree in PT/OT from four-year college or university and three plus years of related experience/training; or,
- Master's or Doctoral degree in PT/OT/SLP or equivalent and three plus years of related experience/training
- Current Texas Licensure as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, or Audiologist.
- If Occupational Therapist - will hold current certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (within 6 months of date of employment)
- If Speech Language Pathologist- will hold current Certificate of Clinical Competence with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
- If Audiologist – current Certificate of Clinical Competence with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is preferred
- Current CPR certification or will complete within 90 days upon hire
