Job Description
The Drew Central School District has an opening for a High School Library Media Specialist. Other duties may also be assigned by administration.
Applicants must hold a current Arkansas Educator License with the following licensure code: 286- Library Media Spec K-12. Applicants who hold an out-of-state teaching certificate must provide documentation showing they have started reciprocity procedures as required by the Arkansas Department of Education.
It is also preferred but not required that applicants hold a current Arkansas Educator License with one of the following licensure codes: 054-Journalism, 108-Journalism, 166-Eng Lang Arts, or 4040-Journalism as well.
The Library Media Specialist is responsible for managing the school library media center and creating a welcoming, student-centered environment that supports literacy, research, technology integration, and academic achievement. This position collaborates with teachers and administrators to provide instructional resources, promote information literacy, and foster a culture of reading and lifelong learning among students. The Library Media Specialist also serves as the building point of contact for technology issues and student logins. In addition, this position is responsible for overseeing the development, design, and publication of the district yearbook, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of school events, student activities, and the overall school year experience. As the staff member responsible for the yearbook, the Library Media Specialist will also coordinate and schedule all school picture days, including individual student portraits, staff photos, senior pictures, and any other photography sessions needed for yearbook production and school records. The Library Media Specialist will also be responsible for managing and updating the high school Facebook page to communicate school news, events, and achievements with students, families, and the community.
