Physical Education/Health Teacher - Elementary

This unique position will serve as a .5 Physical Education Teacher and a .5 Health Teacher. The Physical Education portion of this position will instruct students at the Greenmont Avenue Elementary School. The Health Teacher portion of this position will instruct students in grade five at each of the district's four elementary schools. SUMMARY: To instruct elementary students in health education as outlined by the Massachusetts Health Curriculum Frameworks and district expectations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. Plan and deliver lessons with clear and measurable objectives that are aligned to the Massachusetts State Frameworks, relevant to the appropriate curriculum and the students in the class Manage class operations by creating a positive class environment, delivering instruction effectively by establishing high expectations for all students, presenting material in a developmentally appropriate manner Responsible for using innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies to increase student learning and confidence Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the basic instructional philosophy to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students Evaluate academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards and keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, and other record keeping activities as necessary Communicate with parents on student progress Supervise students in assigned out of classroom activities during the working day Model ethical behavior, skills proficiency and responsible use of online and educational technology resources Perform other related duties and assigned by the Principal
