What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Operations position at Dracut Public Schools?
The Dracut Public School District is seeking a Director of Operations. This position will be available starting July 1, 2026. An official start date may be negotiated.

- Supervises and evaluates the Supervisor of Facilities and provides oversight of district Maintenance and Custodial staff.
- Works with other school district personnel in projecting staffing needs, building and facilities needs, energy needs, capital equipment and project needs for the overall improvement of the school district.
- Regularly inspects all facilities for cleanliness, maintenance, and health and safety compliance, including items related to various local and state inspections.
- Oversees the proper execution of all contracted services provided to the school district by outside vendors.
- Analyzes and interprets data and recommends changes to improve systems and processes.
- Performs budget analysis and creates reports as related to his/her areas of responsibility.
- Recommends prudent management decisions concerning changes in operations and assigned budgets during the school year.
- In coordination with the Director of Finance, responsible for all procurement activities relative to his/her area of responsibility. Maintains compliance with all applicable state and federal procurement laws and regulations regarding purchasing and bid procedures and requests for proposals.
- Works in coordination with the Director of Finance as a cohesive unit in all related matters of mutual concern to ensure a successful business office operation.
- Supervises and evaluates the Director of Technology and provides oversight of the operations of the Technology Department.
- Responsible for maintaining all business and financial records according to school district requirements and in compliance with Massachusetts State Laws or Federal Regulations.
- Supervises and evaluates the Food Service Director and provides oversight of the operations of the Food Services Department.
- Attend School Committee meetings, including relevant sub-committee meetings, as required by the Superintendent
- Oversees implementation of transportation contracts and operations of pupils in collaboration with the Principals, including routes, time schedules, contracts and agreements. Maintains good public relations via the timely and appropriate handling of parent inquiries.
- Oversees systems and processes related to bus passes.
- Responsible for the record keeping, accounting procedures, purchasing and inventory systems for the Technology Department, Food Service Program, Plant Operations, Custodial, and Maintenance Accounts.
- Assumes any other duties and responsibilities, which the Superintendent of Schools may assign for the efficient and effective operation of the Dracut Public Schools. WORK YEAR:Twelve months SALARY RANGE:$120,000 to $140,000 REPORTS TO:Superintendent of Schools
