Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories and current dental conditions.
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) using digital dental imaging equipment.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) accurately, including documentation review, medical coding, and updating medical records.
- Maintain strict infection control standards through aseptic techniques, sterilization of dental equipment, and adherence to healthcare infection prevention protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with the dental team to ensure seamless patient care delivery in a busy clinical environment.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures.
- Proven experience working in general dentistry settings.
- Proficiency with dental practice management software Dentrix is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction, patient education, and team collaboration.
- Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA compliance management and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) management and documentation review processes.
