What are the responsibilities and job description for the Control System Specialist position at DP Professionals (DPP)?
We’re hiring 2 Control Systems Specialist to join a growing automation team working on projects across food, beverage, and life sciences, with occasional work in manufacturing, robotics, and material handling.
What You'll Be Doing
This is a hands-on role where you’ll design, program, and bring control systems to life.
Core Responsibilities:
- Design control systems based on project specs and industry standards
- Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and instrumentation
- Work with Allen-Bradley systems (required)
- Support SCADA systems such as FactoryTalk, Ignition, or iFix
- Visit customer sites to assess systems and help define solutions
- Lead or support startup and commissioning activities
- Troubleshoot system issues and optimize performance
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (sales, PMs, field service)
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Comfortable working independently and with a team
- Strong communication skills
- Willingness to travel ~35%
- High energy, strong work ethic, and attention to detail
What will set you apart from others:
These are the most important skills we’re looking for:
- Strong PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley required)
- Experience with HMI development
- Knowledge of SCADA systems (FactoryTalk, Ignition, iFix preferred)
- Understanding of fluid process controls
- Experience with instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, level)
- Hands-on experience with startup and commissioning
- Familiarity with CIP systems, pumps, valves, and heat exchangers
- ISA88 batch programming experience is a strong plus
- Experience in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical environments preferred
