The Project Accountant provides financial oversight for assigned projects, including contract review, billing, job cost reporting, and subcontractor payments. This role ensures compliance with accounting standards while acting as a financial consultant to Project Managers.

We are seeking a Project Accountant to join our team. The Project Accountant provides financial oversight for assigned projects, including contract review, billing, job cost reporting, and subcontractor payments. This role ensures compliance with accounting standards while acting as a financial consultant to Project Managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages invoicing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contract terms.
- Reviews project contracts and financial documents to ensure proper administration.
- Maintains job tracker spreadsheets and financial records.
- Provides financial guidance to Project Managers and ensures accurate job cost reporting.
- Prepares and participates in monthly Work in Progress (WIP) meetings.
- Oversees subcontractor billing, compliance, and approval processes.
- Monitors accounts receivable, collections, and project financial health.
- Reconciles project-specific financial statements and ensures accuracy.
- Manages the Preliminary Notice and Lien Release process.
- Processes payments in alignment with Paid-When-Paid procedures.
- Identifies areas for process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Collaborates with other Project Accountants to support financial operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum:
- BachelorÕs degree in accounting, business administration, or a closely related field.
- Two (2) years of related experience in project accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
- Experience with Vista ERP or similar project accounting software.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of project accounting principles, contract administration, and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of subcontractor compliance, lien releases, and construction billing procedures.
- Knowledge of construction industry financial practices and compliance requirements.
- Skill in financial reconciliation, accounts receivable management, and job cost tracking.
- Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite and Vista ERP systems.
- Skill in advanced Microsoft Excel functions, including pivot tables and financial modeling.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple project financials effectively.
- Ability to communicate clearly and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Light work environment. General office settings with limited exposure to light physical and occasional uncomfortable environmental conditions. Work may require lifting up to 25 pounds; occasional exposure to light, noise, dust, time pressure, etc.
