The Opportunity: As a Piano Instructor, you are responsible for teaching and developing private piano lessons to children and adults while providing outstanding customer service to both the participant and the parent. Position will also involve recitals and performance preparation. We are looking primarily for a piano instructor, but are happy to offer lessons for other instruments alongside piano lessons if a candidate is interested. Music lessons take place at the Lincoln Center, 935 Maple Ave, Downers Grove.
Pay:
The range for this part time position is $15.50-$17.50 per 30 minute lesson ($31-$35/hr)

When you’ll work:
Part-time; schedules are flexible based on student demands and staff availability. Lessons typically take place weekday afternoons/evenings and/or Saturday morning/afternoon.
Role Expectations:
- Plan and lead one-on-one 30-minute piano lessons with enthusiasm and creativity
- Adapt to participants’ learning styles, abilities and interests; implement different approaches to teaching techniques and skills
- Select books, instructional materials and other literature appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students
- Inform parents about their child’s progress
- Maintain courteous and effective communication between staff, participants and/or parents
- Report any incidents/accidents to the Supervisor immediately. Complete and submit accident/incident forms
- Inventory supplies; requisition as needed
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive public image by addressing questions and concerns from staff, patrons, participants, and parents immediately
- Attend staff meetings, trainings and special events as scheduled by the Recreation Supervisor
- Understand, communicate, and enforce Park District rules and policies to participants and the public
About you:
- Prior experience teaching private piano lessons
- Enjoy teaching children in the 4-10-year-old age range
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Music Performance, Music Education, or similar field preferred
- Can successfully work independently
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service to customers
- Able to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees, participants and the public
- Ability to enforce park district rules, and make sound decisions in order to secure the safety and well-being of all participants, facilities, and equipment
