What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Affairs Spec (Social Media) position at DoWEA Headquarters?
About the Position:
This position is located at DoWEA Headquarters in Alexandria, VA.
This position may be eligible for situational telework as determined by the agency policy.
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Specialized experience for the GS-12 - One year of specialized experience which includes: Assisting with the management of targeted outreach campaigns through writing, production, and posting of content on social networking digital media to facilitate public understanding of the agency's work; Coordinates with the organization web team, graphics staff, video team, and/or infographic/animation specialist to develop content, use of photos and videos, structure and organization; Builds and maintains knowledge of current trends and technologies to evaluate the results of social media programs; Responds to information requests, comments, and feedback from new/social media outlets.
Specialized experience for the GS-13 One year of specialized experience which includes: Develop, Plan, conduct, and coordinate the organization's Social Media Program; Design and execute Organization's Social Media Policy that provides the framework to inform and educate general and specialized audiences; Maintain working relationships with members for developing New Media/Social Media networks and outlets; Analyze and evaluate social media effectiveness to recommend changes in approach for digital communications; Keep organization leadership informed; Educate and train colleagues on how to use available tools.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
