Job Summary
This position will play a crucial role in our community’s success and is responsible for inspecting various equipment, performing basic repairs, and implementing preventative maintenance measures. With your previous maintenance experience and expertise in using hand and power tools, you’ll contribute to the seamless functioning of our facilities. Additionally, your ability to read blueprints and repair manuals will be essential.
The Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to ensure optimal performance and comfort for residents.
- Perform repairs and troubleshooting on plumbing fixtures, including faucets, toilets, and drains, to address any leaks or malfunctions promptly.
- Inspect and maintain electrical systems, including lighting fixtures, switches, and outlets, to prevent hazards and ensure continuous functionality.
- Conduct regular inspections of building structures and exteriors, identifying and addressing any signs of damage, deterioration, or safety hazards.
- Perform minor carpentry work, such as repairing doors, windows, and cabinets, to maintain the aesthetic appeal and functionality of resident living spaces.
- Perform drywall repairs including patching, taping, texturing, and painting.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for resident events and activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and staff, prioritizing urgent issues and providing timely resolutions.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs performed, parts used, and maintenance schedules, to maintain organized documentation and facilitate future maintenance efforts.
- Collaborate with other departments, including housekeeping and administration, to coordinate maintenance efforts and address any facility-wide concerns.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging technologies related to facility maintenance, participating in training programs and workshops as needed to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Follow facility life safety code.
- Assist in the removal of snow/ice to ensure resident/staff safety and accessibility.
- Participate in the on-call rotation to cover nights, weekends, and holidays.
What You'll Bring
- Valid Driver’s License Required
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant trade school education preferred.
- Proven experience in facility maintenance, preferably in a senior living or similar residential environment.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry systems and repair techniques.
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot and diagnose maintenance issues, implementing appropriate solutions promptly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with residents, families, staff, and vendors.
- Detail-oriented approach to work, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality throughout the facility.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects as needed.
- Must understand and follow safety procedures and precautions as they apply to maintenance functions.
- Must be able to push and pull 60 pounds, lift 75 pounds and carry 15 pounds with 2 hands.
