Job Summary
The Director of Human Resources at OES is responsible for the overall leadership of the school’s HR function. OES employs roughly 250 regular and another 150 temporary and seasonal workers, with a compensation budget of over $20 million. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the Head of School maintains dotted line supervision to the Director of Human Resources. On strategic matters, the Director of Human Resources works in close collaboration with the CFO and Head of School (HOS). On operational matters (e.g. talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations), the Human Resources Director partners with division and department heads, the Associate Head of School (AHoS), and other supervisors. The Human Resources Director is a member of the Business Office and is one of a team of two that runs the HR Office, which includes a HR Generalist who administers payroll and benefits. The Executive Assistant to the CFO rounds out the team in assisting with new employee onboarding and other administrative tasks. The Director must be a subject matter expert, a talented analyst, and possess the relational and technical skills to function and lead effectively in the role. Finally, the successful HR director will be culturally competent, able to handle sensitive issues with discretion and respect for all parties, and approach the work with a problem-solving, service-oriented approach.
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS or equivalent.
- Five years of progressively complex HR leadership experience.
- Intercultural and relational competence, ability to interact appropriately with people from a variety of backgrounds, ability to work effectively on diverse teams, demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion.
- General digital literacy; database/HRIS experience, intermediate to advanced MS Office Suite, Google Suite and other web-based applications; Zoom and other communication applications, as appropriate to job duties, and ability to learn and adapt as digital tools evolve.
- Experience practicing HR in an academic or similar setting.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
