MORTGAGE LOAN ORIGINATOR
The Mortgage Loan Originator welcomes new and returning borrowers to the Credit Union. The role is responsible for learning borrower needs, explaining and recommending loan products, taking loan applications in person and online, keeping borrowers informed of any concerns that arise during loan processing or underwriting, and notifying borrowers of loan decisions. The role works closely with all other roles in the department and assists with loan processing and other duties as needed to support delivery of high quality, timely service to members. DoverPhila offers conventional loans for purchases, refinances, construction, 2nd liens and HELOC’s. No government loans, Freddie or Fannie. DoverPhila underwrites and services the loans it originates.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide professional member service while handling mortgage applications.
Listen to applicants’ needs and explain the types of loans and options available.
Timely and accurately process loan applications, transactions, data entry, documents and forms.
Collect and review required documentation for mortgage loan products.
Maintain professional relationships with and provide loan information and service to members, realtors, title companies, and others as necessary.
Maintain communication with members via email, phone, and mail from application to closing and post-closing.
Work as a team with the mortgage department while moving loans through the pipeline.
Prepare and analyze applicants’ credit and other financial factors to determine feasibility of granting loans.
Notify members to resolve discrepancies (such as late payment history, judgements, etc.) and of loan denial or approval. Send appropriate documentation within established timeframes as required by policies and regulations.
Highly knowledgeable of all products and services.
Identify and act upon opportunities to recommend our products and services.
Adhere to all financial, mortgage, and compliance regulations in addition to all credit union policies and procedures.
Be available to work all regular business hours. This is an in-office position, remote work is not available.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
NMLS registration or willing to obtain within 30 days of employment.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Credit Union/Banking experience. 2 years mortgage lending preferred.
Strong member service focus.
Knowledge of mortgage products with the ability to explain them to borrowers.
Ability to match borrower needs with appropriate mortgage products.
Ability to understand and analyze mortgage related documents.
Ability to understand and meet regulatory requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask and appropriately manage multiple priorities at the same time.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient with technology and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Able to quickly learn to navigate various web applications.
Self-starter with a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
Works independently and as part of a team, establishing cooperative and collaborative working relationships.
