Summary
The Dover Housing Authority is seeking a two part-time Custodians to work 20-24 hours per week at $19.76 per hour. Preferred hours Monday-Friday, in 5-hour increments, during normal working daytime hours, but we have flexibility in setting the schedule. As a Part-time Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in various facilities, reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisors. A valid driver's license is required for this role, as you may need to travel between locations.

FUNCTION
To perform routine manual tasks in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitary conditions and appearance of buildings under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs tasks related to general upkeep of buildings and grounds, including general cleaning & trash pick up throughout properties
- Maintains exterior entrance-ways; salts, sands and sweeps as needed
- Removes trash and recycling materials from building
- Keeps cleaning equipment in proper working condition
- Sweeps and cleans floors; cleans carpet as needed
- Empties waste baskets, removes trash to safe storage area
- Dusts furniture and chairs; dusts book shelves, tops and spines of books; dusts window sills, ventilation louvers; washes table tops, desk tops and chairs
- Removes finger marks and scuffs from walls and doors inside and out
- Checks and replenishes soap, towels and toilet tissue dispensers in common areas
- Keeps entrance areas clear of debris, inside and outside
- Cleans restrooms, including walls, floors, basins, bowls, and seats
- Verifies all windows are secured; secures all doors before leaving the building
- Replaces burned out light bulbs in all fixtures, including exit and emergency lights and sets timer for front door exterior lights as needed
- Washes vinyl and wood chairs and tables as needed
- Washes windows and doors outside as needed and weather permitting
- Performs minor maintenance and checks on heating system; keeps mechanical rooms and storage areas free of debris and flammables
- Makes small repairs as requested
- Assist in emptying vacant units
- Sets up for meetings; replaces and stores chairs and tables when not in use
- Assists in setting up displays, moving shelves, units, tables or heavy materials as requested
- Keeps storage areas neat and clean, including supply areas
- Requisitions cleaning and maintenance supplies, submits list to Maintenance Supervisor
- Reports safety hazards to Maintenance Supervisor
- Performs other work as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Physical ability to perform manual work
- Valid NH driver’s license
- Ability to work pleasantly with residents, staff, and the public
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to work independently
