Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Part-Time Church Custodian-Handyman to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our church facilities. This energetic role combines custodial responsibilities with light maintenance and handyman tasks, ensuring the environment remains welcoming, functional, and well-kept for congregation members and visitors alike. Duties
- Perform thorough cleaning of all church areas including sanctuaries, classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
- Operate commercial cleaning tools such as floor buffers, vacuums, mops, and scrubbers to maintain spotless floors and surfaces.
- Handle chemical agents safely by following proper chemical handling safety procedures and maintaining proper storage protocols.
- Conduct light maintenance tasks such as residential painting, minor repairs, replacing light bulbs, fixing fixtures, and general facilities upkeep.
- Assist with heavy lifting and manual handling of furniture, equipment, or supplies while adhering to safe lifting practices to prevent injury.
- Ensure sanitation standards are met by disinfecting high-touch surfaces regularly and maintaining overall cleanliness throughout the facility.
- Monitor and restock cleaning supplies and maintenance tools, ensuring all equipment is in good working order for daily operations.
- Collaborate with staff to address specific custodial or maintenance requests promptly while maintaining a friendly customer service approach.
- Follow safety protocols diligently during all cleaning and maintenance activities to ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors.
Experience
- Proven custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial or institutional setting is preferred.
- Prior experience handling cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, industrial vacuums, or other commercial cleaning tools is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of sanitation procedures, chemical agent handling safety procedures, and industrial cleaning techniques is essential.
- Experience in basic facilities maintenance including minor repairs or residential painting will be considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of safe lifting practices and manual handling techniques to prevent injuries during heavy lifting tasks.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and visitors.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $24.25 - $29.20 per hour
