The Production & Distribution Supervisor is responsible for developing employees, setting work schedules, managing employee relations, ensuring employee performance meets the daily Production, Shipping, Receiving, Material Transfer, and Inventory Control activities/requirements. This position is accountable for coordinating and supporting daily delivery performance, reducing past-due orders, and ensuring customer requirements are met through effective production planning, scheduling, material flow, inventory accuracy, and on-time shipment of quality products.
The Supervisor reviews customer demand, forecast, backlog, past-due orders daily, establishes production and shipping priorities, leads production meetings, and coordinates recovery actions for issues impacting delivery. This position works cross-functionally to address Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, material, capacity, and inventory issues and supports assigned projects and continuous improvement activities.
Job Duties:
Execute daily production and distribution plans to meet customer requirements and drive on-time delivery performance.
* Review forecast, customer demand, backlog, past-due orders, material availability, labor, and capacity to establish daily production and shipping priorities.
* Monitor OTD and past-due performance daily, identify delivery risks and key drivers, and execute and follow up on recovery actions.
* Lead daily production meetings to review priorities, delivery performance, past dues, material constraints, capacity, and recovery actions.
* Coordinate with Planning, Purchasing, Customer Service, Quality, Engineering, and other departments to resolve issues impacting production and customer delivery.
Oversee Production, Shipping, Receiving, Material Transfer, and Inventory Control activities.
* Ensure production requirements and inbound/outbound shipments are completed accurately and on time.
* Maintain effective material flow and inventory accuracy through proper transactions, cycle counting, reconciliation, and inventory controls.
* Ensure applicable quality, ERP, import/export, U.S. Customs, safety, and company requirements are followed.
Provide daily leadership and direction to Production and Distribution employees.
* Assign labor and priorities based on production requirements, workload, and customer commitments.
* Maintain the training matrix and cross-training plans, ensuring employees are properly trained and developing skills across Production and Distribution to support flexibility and coverage.
* Coach and develop employees while monitoring performance, attendance, productivity, safety, and compliance with company policies.
* Review daily timekeeping and punch exceptions, manage reports to ensure payroll accuracy and timely submission.
* Responsible for drafting and administering goal setting, annual and mid-year performance reviews.
Monitor operational performance and drive continuous improvement.
* Monitor Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, productivity, inventory accuracy, OTD, and past-due performance and execute corrective actions as directed.
* Support Lean and continuous improvement activities, including 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, standard work, and process improvements.
* Maintain required operational reports, metrics, procedures, and records.
Lead operational meetings, projects, and cross-functional activities as required.
* Manage assigned projects, including actions, responsibilities, timelines, implementations, and follow-up through completion.
* Communicate operational risks, delivery concerns, priorities, and recovery plans to management and affected departments.
* Support new equipment, systems, process improvements, audits, and other operational requirements as needed.
* Performs back-up duties for all production and logistic positions.
* Performs back-up duties on the Operations Manager Leader Standard Work.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Experience Requirements:
* Minimum 2-5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in manufacturing, production, distribution, warehouse, or similar operations.
* Experience with production planning, scheduling, inventory control, shipping, and receiving.
* Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
* Experience managing daily operational priorities and working cross-functionally to resolve delivery, material, capacity, or inventory issues.
Skills Required:
* Ability to lead and develop employees while promoting accountability, teamwork, and cross-functional communication.
* Understanding of production planning, scheduling, material flow, inventory control, shipping, and receiving.
* Review forecast, customer demand, backlog, OTD, past-due performance, and capacity to identify risks and drive action plans.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities, identify issues, and follow actions through completion.
* Experience with 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, process flow, and other continuous improvement activities.
* Experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, UPS, FedEx, and other applicable shipping systems.
* Ability to work independently, adapt to changing business requirements, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
Education Requirements:
* Associate or bachelor's Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
