Medical Biller

Overview Dove Hospice Services of New Jersey is a community based hospice company serving the state of New Jersey’s elder care community.

We currently have a full time position available for a Hospice Medical Biller.

The hospice medical biller is responsible for the timely filing of claims, and follow-up as necessary to complete the revenue cycle process. The essential functions for the Hospice Medical Biller include the following:

• Verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors.
• Experience in billing Medicare Part A for hospice or long term care.
• Using coded data to produce and submit claims to insurance companies.
• Reviews claims to ensure that payer specific billing requirements are met.
• Posting payments received from patients and third-party payors.
• Working directly with the insurance company, healthcare provider, and patient to get a claim processed and paid.
• Verifying patients' insurance coverage.
• Answering patients' billing questions.
• Handling collections on unpaid accounts.
• Managing the facility's Accounts Receivable reports.
• The ability to learn new programs and maneuver around Microsoft Excel.

Requirements:

• Billing and Coding Certificate.
• Understanding Hospice Medicare A billing and LTC Room and Board.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2-4 years Hospice medical billing and payment specialist or equivalent experience required.
• Experience with an electronic medical record system a plus
• Must be a team player who is able to multitask, work independently, and meet scheduled deadlines.
• Experience with Hospice Medicare/ Medicaid billing and coding preferred.
• Knowledge of HCPCS and ICD-10 codes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Capable of prioritizing workflow and able to ensure deadlines are met.
