Summary:  The ELL coach will support teachers using best practices in English language development, instructional strategies, and implementation of the structured English immersion (SEI) program as directed by the district and mandated by the Arizona State Board of Education according to (A.R.S.). §15-756.01.

 

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThese are intended only as illustrations of the various types of duties performed by this position and/or assigned individual(s).

  • Coach teachers on best practices including, but not limited to; curriculum, instructional strategies, classroom management, and daily routines.
  • Assists and supports the facilitation of curriculum guides and other curriculum materials as directed.
  • Observes classroom instruction and provides relevant feedback and support to classroom teachers to facilitate school improvement and innovation.
  • Shares expertise with staff. (i.e. model lessons, presenting workshops, whisper coaching etc.)
  • Attends, as necessary and appropriate, training sessions and site meetings related to assigned responsibilities.
  • Works cooperatively with all stakeholders in communicating and coordinating district expectations.
  • Assists in the facilitation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Collaborates with other coaches on coordinating duties that support coaching teachers.
  • Assists in locating resources for teachers to support instructional improvement.
  • Obtain and use student achievement data to examine curriculum, instruction, and assessment program effectiveness.
  • Research and disseminate information regarding current trends and significant developments on the state and national levels in curriculum.
  • Develops a plan to monitor the implementation of the structured English immersion instructional program.
  • Establishes goals for the structured English immersion instructional program that are based on student achievement data.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, &ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulation.
  • Knowledge of data usage, including collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting
  • Ability to communicate effectively using all forms of communication; Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Produce accurate work and complete assignments with minimal supervision
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions accordingly.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Curriculum or other related field highly preferred
  • Arizona Teaching Certificate
  • Minimum five (5) years classroom experience
  • Knowledge of K-12 district curriculum and state standards
  • ELD, SEI, or Bilingual Endorsement

 

 

Computer Proficiency:  Word standard, Excel standard and Outlook standard

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor environment. This position regularly works indoors and outdoors at times in all types of weather conditions.. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may become excessively noisy at times.  Contact with employees, students, and public
