Position Overview:

The Finance Director will oversee all financial operations of the organization, including accounting, billing, budgeting, and financial reporting. This role is a critical member of the leadership team, responsible for ensuring financial stability, transparency, and compliance, while leading and mentoring the accounting and billing team. The ideal candidate combines financial expertise in non-profit and governmental accounting with a commitment to supporting community mental health initiatives. This position reports to the CEO. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning, growth, and operational efficiency aligned with organizational mission, goals and objectives.
  • Develop and monitor annual agency budgets, providing analysis and guidance to program managers and executive leadership.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports. Present reports to executive staff, Board of Directors, or other outside funding sources.
  • Participate in monthly Board of Director meetings.
  • Oversee all financial operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, billing fee for service, and financial reporting.
  • Directs the operations of the Revenue Cycle to ensure that accounts receivable is collected timely and uncompensated care is kept to a minimum. Strives to achieve goals for cash collections and AR days and to reduce bad debt and denials. Routinely reviews revenue cycle metrics to proactively identify and address issues affecting overall performance.
  • Collaborates with the Administrative Director to develop, implement, and optimize Front-End Revenue Cycle processes to support revenue integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as non-profit accounting standards.
  • Coordinate annual financial audits and actively participate to ensure timely completion.
  • Manage grants, contracts, and funding agreements, ensuring proper allocation and utilization of resources.
  • Collaborate with other leaders to support grant applications and reporting.
  • Collaborate with external auditors, grantors, and funding agencies as required.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage cash flow, investments, and financial risk to optimize resources and mitigate financial exposure.
  • Lead, develop, and manage the accounting and billing team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in finance work groups and meetings to stay abreast of changes in community mental health.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible financial management experience.
  • Experience with non-profit, healthcare, or governmental accounting strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit financial regulations.
  • Experience managing billing and accounting teams, with excellent leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Proficiency with excel spreadsheets and QuickBooks.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
