Custodian - Riddle School District Riddle School District seeks qualified applicants for the full-time position of Custodian at Riddle Elementary. 261 days per year, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. JOB SUMMARY: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop. SALARY/PAY RATE: $19.71 - $22.43 per hour (Depending on experience) APPLICATION Complete an application here: https://www.applitrack.com/douglasesd/onlineapp/JobPostings/view.asp?FromAdmin=true&AppliTrackJobId=3680 APPLICATION DEADLINE 09/30/2026 at 3 p.m. DUTIES This not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job. •Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors and vacuums carpets. •Cleans and dusts walls, furniture, woodwork, and other surfaces. •Pick up paper and trash on grounds, sweep and remove snow and ice from walks and entrances. •Wash, scrub, and disinfect rest rooms. •Clean windows, doors, drinking fountains, clean and disinfect metal work such as handrails, doorknobs, and drinking fountains. •Empty and clean waste containers. •Assist in moving/rearranging chairs, tables, desk, furniture, and other equipment. •Maintain equipment and tools in a clean and orderly manner. •Perform special custodial work upon request of faculty members with building administrator approval. •Clears building and grounds of evidence of vandalism and graffiti upon discovery, reports to building administrator. •Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are clear and working correctly during hours of operation. •Inspect building for safety, sanitary, and fire hazards and report any to building administrator. •Inventory and requisition custodial supplies and equipment and make other reports in a timely manner. •Participate in complete cleaning, painting, and routine upkeep of buildings during school breaks. •Assume responsibility to lock doors and windows, turn out lights, and secure buildings as assigned. •Follow district policies and building procedures. •Perform other reasonable duties that the building administrator may assign. •Maintains regular on-time attendance. •Ability to use cleaning materials and operate cleaning equipment with skill, efficiency, and safety. •Perform moderate to heavy manual labor. •Perform basic outdoor care such as blowing breezeways and entryways, light yard care. •Use good judgement to prioritize duties when emergencies or special circumstances limit available time. •Perform minor repair work. •Establish and maintain a harmonious relationship with students, fellow employees, and the public. •Act as a friendly ambassador for the Riddle School District •Other duties as may be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS •A high school diploma or equivalent. •Knowledge of Basic operations, tools, and terms used in cleaning work. •Knowledge of cleaning agents, chemicals, and their safe use, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). •Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
