The City of Springfield's Environmental Services Department is seeking individuals that are interested in making a difference in our community by joining the team as a Grounds and Building Maintenance Coordinator. In this role, you will oversee a team of individuals picking up litter throughout the roadways of the community and assisting with neighborhood cleanup operations. This position involves daily field work and team leadership to support the safe pickup of litter alongside the highways and arterial streets in Springfield in our continue efforts to protect the environment. Qualifications And Requirements
Experience, Education, and Training
- Requires at least three years’ experience in performing general maintenance and minor repair of commercial buildings (including pest and vector control), facilities, and landscaping;
- Some experience operating medium-duty equipment (such as mowers, tractors, skidsteer, grinders, etc) required,
- Experience in directing/leading the work of others
- Must possess and maintain at minimum a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with class “B” endorsement enabling to operate vehicle with airbrakes within probationary period;
- Some candidates must possess and maintain CDL class "A" endorsement such as tanker in order to qualify for some assignments;
- Must obtain and maintain a valid state pesticide Public Applicator's License in Right-of-way or Ornamental & Turf Category, depending on assignment, within probationary period;
- Candidates must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification within the probationary period.
