Job Description

JOB TITLE: Deputy Auditor/Treasurer-Account Clerk
DEPARTMENT: Auditor/Treasurer; Generally, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m.
STATUS: 37.5 hours per week, Full Time; Non-Exempt
STARTING SALARY: The starting salary is $44,616. annually ($22.88/hr) based on the current pay grid.
**Receive anniversary step increases. In addition, receive annual cost-of-living adjustments (COLA).

JOB OBJECTIVES:


A Deputy Auditor/Treasurer-Account Clerk provides quality service in assisting customers at the counter and on the phone and performs assigned duties related to property tax collection, accounts receivable processing, and the election and absentee voting process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties may include the following:

  • Answering phones while providing prompt, accurate, excellent customer service.
  • Process accounts receivable, including property tax payments through the mail and in person.
  • Performing data entry.
  • Process taxpayer address changes.
  • Process liquor, beer, auctioneers, and other licenses the office issues.
  • Completing tasks associated with voter registration and absentee voting.
  • Preparing, processing, and mailing absentee ballot applications and ballots.
  • Assisting the public with in-house absentee voting and mail ballot process.
  • Perform duties of the absentee ballot board as prescribed by Minnesota Election Laws.
  • Proofreading various election-related documents for content and accuracy.
  • Conducting business in accordance with the federal election guidelines, Minnesota Election Laws, and according to NVRA and HAVA procedures.
  • Perform all other duties assigned, delegated, or required of the elections team, including those prescribed by law.
  • Perform tasks in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
  • Safeguarding sensitive documents and supplies.
  • Comply with all rules and policies to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Reliable, predictable attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties, as assigned or apparent.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT HIRE:

Education
High School Diploma or GED.

Experience
2-year Associate Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field or the equivalent of at least 3 years, of full-time customer service experience with a priority of time, spent dealing with customers face-to-face including experience in a position that handled money and making change.

Licenses and Other Requirements:
Valid MN Driver's License.

Public building.

HOURS
Generally, Monday – Friday 8 am-4:30 p.m., but this could vary depending on the needs of the department. Candidate must be available the Friday, Saturday, and Monday prior to the state primary and general elections and on the day of the state primary and general elections. Election days may include working until midnight.

Physical Demands can involve, but are not limited to:
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time, bend, reach, stoop, crouch, twist, and kneel. Assignments may require the ability to push, pull, and load heavy election equipment.

6 -10 years - 15 working days.
