The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team. Our 9 story hotel is set in a glass atrium and is located in the heart of downtown South Bend. We proudly offer our guests a full service restaurant, Baker's Bar & Grill, Starbucks, 15,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, an indoor pool and fitness center.

Education & Experience Requirements

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

2–4 years of experience in hospitality, facility operations, custodial services, or public area supervision; hotel experience strongly preferred.

Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and public-space maintenance standards.

Experience supervising teams in a fast-paced environment.
-
Previous exposure to pool operations or willingness to obtain Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred.

Strong customer-service orientation and ability to interact professionally with guests and team members.

Must meet minimum age requirements and adhere to company safety standards.

No employee may pose a direct threat to their own or others’ safety.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the hotel for the entire shift.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and handle carts, equipment, and supplies.

Duties & Essential Functions
Supervisory Responsibilities
-
Supervise and coordinate daily work of Public Area Attendants, Facility Attendants, and supporting staff.

Ensure all public spaces and employee areas meet Hilton brand cleanliness standards, including:

Lobby and front entrance
-
Atrium and corridors
-
Restaurant/dining areas
-
Starbucks outlet
-
Restrooms (public and employee)
-
Fitness center
-
Pool and outdoor deck areas
-
Employee cafeteria, hallways, offices, and back-of-house spaces
-

Assign, review, and complete work orders or cleanliness inspections.
-
Maintain daily communication with Housekeeping, Engineering, and Front Office to support seamless hotel operations.
-
Conduct training on cleaning procedures, guest service, safety protocols, and chemical handling.
-
Ensure staff adherence to uniform standards, attendance, and performance expectations.
Operational Responsibilities
-
Perform regular walkthroughs of all public and employee areas to identify cleaning needs, safety hazards, or repair requirements.
-
Maintain restrooms, lobby seating, doors, windows, railings, decorative features, and high-touch areas to Hilton brand standards.

Oversee cleanliness and upkeep of the gym and pool, including:
-
Towel stock and amenity levels
-
Water quality checks (if trained)
-
Cleanliness of decking, furniture, drains, and equipment
-

Ensure restaurant and Starbucks public areas are maintained before, during, and after service periods.

Ensure public area equipment (vacuum cleaners, floor machines, carts, etc.) is maintained, cleaned, and stored properly.
-
Coordinate deep cleaning projects such as carpet cleaning, high-dusting, pressure washing, and floor care.

Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs (chemicals, tools, replacement items).
-
Respond to cleanliness-related calls from Front Desk, Engineering, or Management promptly.
Safety & Compliance
-
Uphold all Hilton brand cleanliness and health-and-safety standards.
-
Maintain accurate SDS records and ensure proper chemical usage.
-
Report and mitigate unsafe or hazardous conditions immediately.
-
Assist with emergency situations and support life-safety procedures when necessary.
Administrative Duties
-
Attend required meetings and departmental training sessions.
-
Complete daily logs, inspection checklists, and shift reports.
-
Participate in scheduling, time management, and performance evaluations as directed by management.
-
Support cross-training with Housekeeping and Engineering teams.
-
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Housekeeper or Hotel Management.
