SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Practice Transformation and Strategy, the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Public Health Project Manager will oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the MassLeague MGB SUD Equity Grant and support Behavioral Health Services Expansion (BHSE) initiatives related to SUD services at DotHouse Health.
This position will guide activities that expand access to high-quality, patient-centered SUD care, strengthen partnerships with community organizations, and improve coordination across behavioral health, recovery, and primary care services.
The Project Manager will work collaboratively with clinical, operational, quality improvement, marketing, and community engagement staff to ensure project deliverables are met and that new and enhanced SUD services are effectively integrated into practice.
The Project Manager will directly supervise the Community Engagement Specialist and coordinate with the Recovery Services team to align outreach, education, and patient navigation efforts. Success in this role requires strong project management, data analysis, and communication skills, as well as the ability to build trust and foster collaboration across diverse teams and community partners.
Continuation of this role beyond October 2027 is contingent upon grant funding.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Implementation and Oversight
- Lead implementation and monitoring of grant initiatives to expand low-barrier, person-centered SUD services, including safety tools and medication-assisted treatment.
- Develop and implement workflows, policies, and protocols that improve patient access and support effective, high-quality SUD care.
- Oversee community education and outreach initiatives, including distribution of Narcan.
- Support integration of OBAT, behavioral health, and primary care workflows to ensure warm handoffs and seamless transitions for patients with SUD and co-occurring BH conditions.
- Maintain tracking systems to monitor deliverables, timelines, and grant milestones, ensuring timely submission of required workplans, assessments, and quarterly reports.
- Serve as primary liaison with MassLeague Substance Use and Recovery Initiatives team for updates, reporting, and site visits.
Supervision and Team Support
- Directly supervise the Community Engagement Specialist, providing support, guidance, and oversight to ensure alignment of community engagement activities with grant and health center priorities.
- Coordinate with the Recovery Services team and BH Care Coordinator to align patient navigation and outreach activities with SUD program goals.
- Promote best practices for patient engagement and crisis response, and foster supportive team dynamics to mitigate burnout and secondary stress.
Capacity Building and Training
- Assess training needs of care team members and coordinate training sessions for staff and providers related to effective and inclusive SUD care
- Support Community, Culture, and Belonging (CCB) initiatives within the SUD team and across the health center, including reviewing policies, practices, and staff development opportunities.
- Support training initiatives that strengthen patient engagement, crisis response, and de-escalation skills for patient-facing staff to improve care quality for patients with SUD and co-occurring behavioral health conditions
- Serve as an internal resource to advance knowledge and practices supporting low-barrier SUD care.
Outreach and Communications
- Collaborate with our Marketing and Communications team to create or update external communications including the health center website, social media feeds, and other print and digital materials, to share information and resources that will increase community knowledge around SUD
- Ensure community-facing materials serve to reduce stigma and increase trust in SUD services.
- Oversee initiatives to increase patient and family awareness around SUD
- Collaborate with key partners and stakeholders across the city and state; participate in workgroups and committees as a representative of DotHouse Health
Data, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Work with clinical and operational staff to ensure relevant data is collected and documented in a useful and actionable format;
- Track and analyze patient engagement and clinical activities/processes/outcomes stratified by patient demographics;
- Use data to inform quality improvement initiatives and program enhancements.
- Report data required for grant monitoring, quarterly progress updates, and evaluation activities.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities to leadership and care teams to ensure alignment with grant goals and continuous improvement.
Other Duties
- Participate in MassLeague grantee learning collaboratives, trainings, and community of practice meetings.
- Support additional public health initiatives as aligned with departmental needs and organizational goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field preferred; can substitute for two years of experience).
Experience:
Minimum four years’ experience coordinating or managing community, public, or population health initiatives
Experience managing or working with grant-funded programs preferred.
Lived or professional experience with communities impacted by substance use required.
Demonstrated commitment to health equity in program work required.
Experience supervising staff preferred.
Skills:
Strong project management, organization, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to balance multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong data monitoring and analysis skills to support program evaluation and improvement.
Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including clinical, operational, and community-based partners.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite and EHR systems (Epic experience preferred).
Salary : $72,500 - $90,600
