Description
Summary:
Under the supervision of the specialty Practice Manager in conjunction with the director of eye care services, the optical associate/ Optician Apprentice will perform daily optical tasks including assisting ordering of eyeglasses, dispensing, and proper documentation of order.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure Seamless patient care by coordinating with clinic staff such as optometrist, interns and registration
Assist patients in selection, ordering, delivering, and repairing eyeglasses, contact lenses and accessories.
Perform basic optical and purchasing calculations
Responsible for the maintenance of optical frame inventory and other items as needed
Perform other related duties as required
Support the learning and training of intern working in dispensing
Complete proper documentation of optical order in the EMR (Eyefinity) in a timely manner
Respond to patient optical inquiries and concerns in a timely manner
Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or GED required
Opticianry program completed (preferred)
Experience:
Previous experience in optical sales
Good communication and interpersonal skills (preferred)
Basic computer literacy
Software/Hardware:
Must be proficient and have strong working knowledge of Microsoft office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
Experience with electronic medical record (preferred)
