The overall function of this position is maintaining, repairing electronic traffic signal equipment and systems. This position is located in the District 05 / Unit 751 of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Electronic Technician Supervisor.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Traffic Signals
Install, repair and maintain electronic traffic equipment and systems, computerize traffic signal controllers and equipment, and video vehicle detection equipment
Buildings and Grounds
Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment. This includes indoor and outdoor lighting, heating and air conditioning equipment, refrigeration equipment, emergency power plants and control panels, electrical and mechanical equipment at the truck weigh stations, rest areas and sewer plants, and controls, switches and motors at the South 2nd Street pumping station.
Fixed and Movable Bridges
Maintain and repair of roadway lighting, marine navigational lighting and aircraft beacon lights on fixed and movable bridges. Perform the openings of movable bridges on demand twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional
Career Progression: This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG). Candidates may be hired as a Trades Apprentices, Electronic Technician Trainee, or Electrician Technician depending on experience.
Compensation:
Trades Apprentice has a min. hour rate of 16.06 and max hour rate of 28.90.
Electronic Technician Trainee has a min. hour rate of 21.05 and max hour rate 37.88
Electronic Technician has a min. hour rate of 24.10 and max hour rate of 40.53
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:45–4:15.
A valid Louisiana Class “B” Permit or Commercial License is required before appointment.
