District Recruitment for Rapides Parish:
The overall function of this position is to work throughout the District fulfilling the carpentry and plumbing assignments given by the Maintenance Foreman in order to maintain, repair, and improve the Departments facilities and structures. This position is located in District 08, Unit 701, and reports directly to Maintenance Foreman. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times without supervision or with minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.
While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Performs complex detailed carpentry work on building and other structures throughout the seven parish District.
- Installs and fits fine trim work around lights, electrical fixtures, windows, doors, comers, etc.
- Installs floor tile, ceiling tiles, suspended ceiling, and locks.
- Builds all manner of detailed carpentry from hand drawn shop drawings or blueprints
- Constructs cabinets, shelving unit, and work stations for computer terminals.
- Finishing work such as sanding, staining, varnishing, painting of new and existing furniture, woodwork or other related projects.
- Keeps records as required by maintenance foreman, which may include, petty cash tickets, requisitions, inventory, daily work reports, etc.

Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday/6:30AM-5:00PM
