Doswell Operating Group is seeking a knowledgeable Safety Coordinator to join our team! The Safety Coordinator is a highly visible position supporting multiple lines of business and ensuring employees are both aware of, and following, OSHA safety standards.  The Safety Coordinator will work with an overall goal of improving the companywide safety culture.

What You’ll Do:

• Influence the workforce towards achieving an injury free culture of care.
• Conduct employee training sessions to educate employees on safety standards and expectations, as well as safe machinery operation.
• Conduct both scheduled and random jobsite observation visits and documents findings appropriately.  Ensure corrective actions are taken for any deficiencies found.
• Enforce existing policies and procedures.
• Administer Random/Post Accident/Reasonable Cause drug tests.
• Interact with employees, management, customers, doctors’ offices, officials, etc. to ensure accurate and timely claims management and mitigation.
• Perform accident investigations and identify the root causes.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring:

• 3 years of experience in the Safety field.  Experience in the construction industry is strongly recommended.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.  Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
• Bilingual – ability to read, comprehend, and communicate in English and Spanish is preferred.
• OSHA 510 certification is required.

• Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and meeting facilitation abilities.
• Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines.
• Must be available for on call rotation as situations arise.
• Occasional overnight travel for learning seminars or visits to company operations in North Carolina.
• Ability to navigate safety tracking software and generate reports.
• Driving Requirements
  • Must have a valid Virginia driver’s license.
  • Must have positive points on state driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age unless company approval is granted.
  • Must not have had a DUI, DWI, or reckless driving conviction in the last five years.
  • All driving records are run as part of our pre-employment process and reviewed at the discretion of the Safety Team.
• Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to crawl, kneel, squat, and climb. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, unassisted. 
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
