What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Staff position at DOS MATADORS LLC?
At The Hemingway, our Line Cooks have the important role of preparing high-end dishes for our guests, properly setting up the kitchen for a successful dinner service and maintaining a high level of attention to detail – in both the presentation of dishes as well as the cleanliness of the kitchen.
In our open-kitchen concept, the Back of House focuses on team work and cross-training to ensure a smooth dinner service that not only delights our guests, but also encourages support and camaraderie amongst the staff. All team members are emboldened to take ownership of their stations and the kitchen by bringing suggestions and ideas that can streamline/improve methods and operations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Set up and stocking stations with necessary supplies
- Prepares food for service
- Cook menu items according to recipe and guidance from kitchen manager
- Washes and cleans the kitchen and utensils. Stores equipment at the end of shift.
- Maintains compliance with applicable health, safety, food handling, and hygiene codes and standards.
- Assists with unloading, inspection, and storage of raw ingredients and supplies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Basic understanding of or the ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
- Basic understanding of or the ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain personal hygiene.
- High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics such as food safety, preferred.
- Prior related experience preferred.
- Must have current/valid Food Handlers permit from Tulsa Health Department.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and working in a kitchen.
- Exposure to extreme heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to work late nights and unpredictable hours.
- Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods and perform other related tasks.
