QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or a bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with completion of required clinical training for SLPA certification.
- Valid and current SLPA license/certification from the appropriate state board or agency (as required by the state).

Principal / Lead SLP
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), the SLPA supports the implementation of speech and language therapy services for students with communication disorders. The SLPA assists in carrying out treatment plans, collecting data, preparing materials, and supporting students' access to their educational programs. This role is critical to ensuring consistent and effective speech-language services in compliance with educational and clinical standards.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct speech-language therapy services to students as prescribed by the supervising SLP's intervention plan.
- Conduct individual and small group sessions to reinforce speech and language skills.
- Prepare therapy materials and adapt classroom materials to support communication goals.
- Collect and record accurate data on student performance during therapy sessions.
- Assist the SLP in conducting screenings without interpretation.
- Follow documented treatment plans and instructional strategies created by the SLP.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and records.
- Communicate effectively with teachers and staff to support carryover of skills in the classroom.
- Participate in training and professional development as required.
- Adhere to ethical standards and state/federal regulations related to speech-language services.
- Perform clerical duties such as preparing therapy materials, organizing files, and scheduling.
- Support inclusive practices by assisting students in general education settings when appropriate.
- Maintain a schedule of services that ensures fidelity to IEP-mandated services under SLP supervision.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned by the principal or district.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
