Duties
- Install, inspect, and repair low voltage systems including door operators, access control panels, CCTV cameras, sensors, fire alarm systems, and surveillance equipment.
- Configure and troubleshoot networked security systems utilizing computer networking skills and remote access software.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately perform system design and installation tasks.
- Conduct field service visits to diagnose issues with security systems, cabling infrastructure, power supplies, and electrical components using hand tools and power tools.
- Perform routine maintenance on security hardware such as IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), sensors, CCTV cameras, fire alarms, and telecommunication equipment.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their security needs; assist with alarm system sales by providing technical expertise on system capabilities.
- Document all service activities thoroughly in reports; ensure compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and safety protocols.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician in low voltage systems or security system installation and maintenance.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience related to cabling, power supplies, and construction environments.
- Familiarity with computer hardware, network configuration, system design principles, and remote access software.
- Knowledge of security system components including CCTV, sensors, fire alarms, IDS, surveillance devices, and locksmithing basics.
- Ability to read schematics accurately; proficient in using hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, drills, and power tools for installation work.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the capacity to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently on-site or remotely.
- Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel for field service appointments as needed.
- Additional certifications in NEC standards or telecommunication are a plus; construction or alarm system sales experience is advantageous.
