Responsibilities
- Install new garage doors, openers, and hardware according to blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
- Perform repairs and routine maintenance on existing garage doors, including replacing springs, cables, rollers, and tracks
- Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to complete installations and repairs efficiently
- Conduct heavy lifting of garage door components and materials safely on construction sites or customer locations
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues with garage door systems and electrical components to identify root causes and implement effective solutions
- Fabricate custom parts or modify existing components as needed for specialized installations or repairs
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and building codes while maintaining a clean work environment
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding project timelines, procedures, and safety precautions
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction-related fields such as carpentry, remodeling, or handyman work; experience with garage door installation is highly preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge including door hanging, fixture installation, lock smithing skills, and electrical experience
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working on construction sites or customer premises
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems effectively
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is often required for travel between job sites
