Position Summary
Seeking a Safety Officer in Rockville Centre, NY to oversee site safety, ensure OSHA and NY compliance, conduct inspections, lead training, and address hazards.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for the Safety Officer role include:
- Conduct regular facility inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments.
- Develop, implement, and enforce site safety plans that comply with OSHA and local regulations.
- Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and the site safety committee.
- Investigate incidents, maintain accurate safety records, and recommend corrective actions.
- Track employee certifications, training, and overall compliance with safety programs.
- Develop and improve safety programs, including new hire orientations and annual training.
- Collaborate with management to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
- Promote a strong safety culture through training, awareness, and program initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proven experience in workplace safety, OSHA compliance.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and New York state safety regulations and standards.
- Ability to conduct inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
- Experience developing and delivering safety training programs, including toolbox talks and new hire orientations.
- Ability to identify hazards and implement corrective actions effectively.
- OSHA 30 Certification (required).
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
- Strong leadership, communication, and reporting skills, with confidence in phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Quick problem-solving skills to address safety issues on site.
- Valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
