Civil Engineer Corps Officer — U.S. Navy

Location: Nationwide (Various Navy Facilities & Commands)

Job Type: Full-Time | Entry Level | Officer Commissioning Program

Paid Collegiate Program for College Students-(BDCP) Baccalaureate Degree Completion-Receive full pay and housing allowance over $6,000 per month while completing your undergraduate degree.

About the Role

The U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps (CEC) offers a challenging and rewarding career leading critical infrastructure projects that support the Navy’s global operations. As a CEC Officer, you will manage large-scale construction contracts, oversee facility operations, and lead engineering personnel in a variety of environments—including expeditionary deployments and humanitarian missions.

You will be a technical expert, project manager, and leader responsible for ensuring Navy bases and installations remain fully operational and mission-ready worldwide.


Responsibilities

-Manage and oversee Navy construction contracts to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications.

-Operate and maintain base utilities including power, water, HVAC, and telecommunications systems.

-Lead Navy construction battalions (“Seabees”) during expeditionary operations, disaster relief, and combat support.

-Provide engineering solutions related to environmental compliance, infrastructure resilience, and energy efficiency.


Qualifications

-U.S. Citizen, age 19–36 (waivers possible up to 42).

-Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in an ABET-accredited engineering program or NAAB-accredited architecture program.

-Minimum GPA of 2.7 (waivers to 2.5 possible); competitive candidates typically have a GPA of 3.1 or higher and professional certifications (EIT, PE, NCARB).

-Meet Navy physical fitness and medical requirements.


Compensation


-Starting salary as a Navy Civil Engineer Corps Officer ranges widely based on rank and years of service. Total compensation—including base pay, housing allowances, subsistence allowances, and benefits—can reach up to $117,000 annually.


-Comprehensive health care, retirement benefits, paid leave, and educational assistance are included as part of your total compensation package.


Training

-Complete 13 weeks of Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Newport, RI.

-Attend 16 weeks of Civil Engineer Corps Officer School (CECOS) in Port Hueneme, CA, focusing on naval engineering, leadership, and expeditionary operations.

-Receive ongoing professional development opportunities including fully funded graduate education and certifications.
