Medical Assistant with medication refill knowledge

General Purpose

We are seeking a full-time experienced Medical Assistant with at least 2 years work experience for our Donna clinic. The qualified candidate should be well-spoken, enthusiastic, and a quick learning individual. Applicant must have excellent communication skills and above average patient rapport with geriatric patients. Ability to multi task, excellent documentation skills and prior experience with electronic health records is required. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and work experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepare patient for examination

• Note brief history and the reason for visit in the patient’s chart

• Take and record height, weight, and blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration, and temperature

• Take health history for all patients

• Assist the provider as needed

• Completely fill out patient forms, when necessary

• Administer medications and injections per provider orders

• Follow universal precautions to protect self and patients

Strong knowledge of medications

• Stock exam rooms with supplies

• Familiarity with EKG, CBC machine and glucometer

• Complete MA Performance Criteria training sheet as required

• Perform CLIA Waived Testing

• Under the direction of the provider in charge, takes responsibility of medical supplies and cleaning of the medical instruments and equipment

• Any other duties or responsibilities the clinical staff may assign from time to time and when the need arises

Qualifications and skills:

• High School Diploma required

• Certified Medical Assistant required

• CPR Certification required

• Ability to Multi Task

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

• Minimum of 2 years prior medical assistant experience

• EMR Experience

• Cerner knowledge is a plus'
