Summary: We are seeking a Medical Secretary to perform various office duties

Job Title: Medical Secretary

Location: Rensselaer, NY 12144

Target Work Schedule: 20 Hours Per Week, Shift TBD

Target Duration/End Date: December 2027

Description of Roles and Responsibilities:

· Perform clerical duties utilizing specific knowledge of medical terminology and procedures

· Act as the liaison between the provider/biller, facility medical office, Health Services, and Accounts Payable

· Review and process patient charges by reviewing invoices/bills containing Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes

· Ensure that the medical services are provided regarding agreed upon fee schedules. Adjust fees on invoices when needed

· Work closely with the Bureau of Health Services to review and verify documentation regarding billed medical services

· Manage agreements with providers regarding agreed upon fee schedules

· Check bills to confirm that the correct, agreed upon fee schedule was applied

· Process incoming/outgoing correspondence related to vendor invoices and billing

· Sort and deliver invoices/bills to designated personnel

Mandatory/Minimum Qualification, Skills, Experience Requirements:

Certification as a medical coder or training/courses in medical coding, billing, and understanding of medical terminology. Experience with NYS Medicaid coding and billing. Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred. And at least two years of relevant Medical Office experience

Qualification, Skills, Experience Requirements:

· Experience in healthcare, medical coding, medical billing, and customer service

· Strong working knowledge of medical coding and billing processes

· Working closely with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with coding standards

· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain organized and detail-oriented while managing multiple tasks

· Proficient in Adobe Acrobat and SFS software

· Maintain control of sensitive information and confidential department activity

· Excellent writing and communication abilities are preferred

· Should be a self-starter, outgoing and team-oriented

· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are a must

· Ability to work effectively and professionally with higher level management staff is essential

· Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

· Ability to effectively use computer applications and office technology to produce, revise, catalog, and disseminate professional materials

· Reliability, time and attendance is critical
