Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic

The Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. This position performs preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs to ensure trucks, trailers, and other diesel machinery operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and routine servicing on heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment.
• Repair and replace engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, suspension systems, steering components, and driveline components.
• Troubleshoot and repair diesel fuel, emissions, cooling, and air systems.
• Use diagnostic scanners, electronic testing equipment, and mechanical tools to identify faults.
• Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and repair specifications.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic preferred
• CDL and/or ASE certifications are a plus.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrains, braking systems, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems accurately.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and repair documentation.

The early years of Don’s Truck Sales (aka Don’s Auto Sales), as cars stood at the forefront of our business. The transition to trucks started in the late sixties. In addition to the main building, a frame and equipment shop was started. In 1974, Don’s Truck Sales was transformed to a shop to accommodate trucks as the staple of our business. In 1978, the shop doubled in size, along with changes in the Parts Department and offices. The year 1989 brought major changes to the Equipment Shop, which gained the nickname ‘The Mod Shop’, tripling in size. During the mid 90’s, the Equipment Shop gained additional warehouse space. In 1998, warehouse space was added to the main building site, plus the size of the business offices doubled.
