About the Role:

The Body Shop Technician at our Katy Store plays a critical role in restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and structural integrity. This position requires meticulous attention to detail to assess damage, perform repairs, and refinish vehicle surfaces using industry-standard techniques and tools. The technician collaborates closely with estimators, parts specialists, and other team members to deliver high-quality workmanship within established timelines. Safety and compliance with environmental regulations are paramount, as the role involves handling various materials and equipment responsibly. Ultimately, the Body Shop Technician contributes significantly to customer satisfaction by delivering reliable, durable, and visually flawless vehicle repairs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a Body Shop Technician or in a similar automotive repair role.
• Knowledge of vehicle body repair techniques, tools, and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, blueprints, and technical instructions.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification from a recognized automotive body repair program (e.g., I-CAR, ASE).
• Experience with computerized frame alignment systems and paint mixing technology.
• Familiarity with insurance claim processes related to vehicle repairs.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous experience working in a high-volume body shop environment.

Responsibilities:

• Possess an operating knowledge of measuring systems

• ASE Master Technician Certification

• Toyota Certification 

• Diagnose and repair full-frame vehicles and uni-body structural damage
• Replace damaged wiring harnesses or reinstall harnesses after body repair

• Remove and reinstall interiors

• Vehicle recalibrations

• Mount/balance tires

• Test Driving Vehicles

• Diagnose Mechanical issues

• Attend weekly department meetings

• Maintain clean work area

Skills:

The required skills enable the technician to accurately assess vehicle damage and execute precise repairs, ensuring structural safety and aesthetic quality. Proficiency with hand and power tools, welding equipment, and surface preparation techniques is essential for daily tasks. Preferred skills such as certification and experience with advanced repair technologies enhance efficiency and repair accuracy. Effective communication and teamwork skills facilitate coordination with colleagues and contribute to a smooth workflow. Additionally, strong organizational abilities help maintain compliance with safety standards and proper documentation throughout the repair process.
