Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager, under limited supervision, is responsible for the leadership, development, and daily oversight of the maintenance department. This role ensures all plant equipment, systems, and utilities are properly maintained to optimize uptime and operational efficiency.
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is required.
Key ResponsibilitiesOrganization and Personnel
- Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to the maintenance team.
- Enforce all safety rules and regulations.
- Develop and maintain effective employee relations within the department.
- Oversee training for new and existing maintenance personnel.
- Promote high morale and collaboration across departments.
- Drive safety awareness and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintenance Management
- Direct the maintenance of all plant facilities, including preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Establish and monitor maintenance procedures, methods, and budgets.
- Coordinate with engineering and external contractors on capital projects and repairs.
- Manage vendor and supplier relationships.
Energy and Utility Systems
- Oversee efficient operation of plant utility systems, including electricity, water, gas, air, and steam.
- Lead energy efficiency and conservation initiatives.
- Ensure accurate distribution and tracking of energy costs.
Continuous Improvement
- Act as a champion for continuous improvement and Lean initiatives (5S, Kaizen, TPM, etc.).
- Encourage and manage employee participation in improvement programs.
- Drive operational excellence within the maintenance department.
Collaboration
- Partner with plant and engineering leadership on operational strategy and capital projects.
- Work with finance to develop budgets and control expenditures.
- Collaborate with HR and safety teams to ensure a fair, safe, and compliant work environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
- 10 years of experience in maintenance or engineering management within a heavy industrial, manufacturing, or process plant environment.
- Strong technical background with demonstrated ability to improve maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, drive accountability, and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with frequent time spent in plant environments.
- Regular exposure to production areas involving noise, dust, and industrial equipment.
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas.
- Must be able to travel occasionally for training, meetings, or support of other facilities.
Additional Information
- Preference given to candidates located within approximately one hour of the facility.
