POSITION SUMMARY
Dominion’s Advanced Controls Engineering team is dedicated to quality, on time engineering. As a member of the Controls Design team you’ll work alongside our Project Managers, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing and Documentation teams to design, build, program, and integrate custom automated equipment and solutions for a variety of product lines.
The Controls Project Engineer leads the design efforts of the controls team assigned to a project. The Controls Project Engineer functions as the primary point of contact to support project controls design requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports project from inception through completion as the single point of contact to internal departments and customers. Lead an assigned design team or work independently on smaller projects.
- Attends to all customer requirements and coordinates team efforts with internal departments.
- Coordinates customer meetings, open issues, approvals and releases.
- Ensures compliance to project specifications and schedule. Reports status, prepares and completes project action plans as required.
- Works with internal departments to ensure awareness and compliance to project requirements. Coordinates changes, revisions and aids project manager and estimating departments.
- Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvement. Updates personal and group knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and assisting team members.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Ability to create and direct the development of controls hardware and software that meets project requirements and customer specifications. Ability to support project from inception through completion.
- Knowledge of customer and industry specifications with ability to calculate figures and amounts such as power consumption, heat dissipation, network performance, safe stopping distances, pneumatic and hydraulic requirements.
- Ability to work directly with customers independently to support other departments by participating in meetings, project open issues and generating status reports.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
- Knowledge of industry standards, common practices and customer requirements with recent, relevant work experience including GM, FCA or Ford projects.
- GM certifications and safety training. GCCH, GCCS, Eplan, MPS, ESWP.
- Experienced with GM and FCA plant systems. SEP, GEP, MERS, RPM, FIS, PFCS
- AutoCad, Eplan, RSLogix, Factory Talk View, Siemens TIA Portal, Servos
- Experience with General Assembly, Tire and Wheel, Fluid Fill, Alignment automation.
