Location and Hours:
Our headquarters is in North Kingstown, RI. This opportunity is to work full-time (40 hours per week), Monday through Friday with flexible working hours in the department/lab, with the ability to work from home on a project-oriented basis.

The Bioanalytical Chemist is responsible for the design, development, qualification, validation, and implementation of analytical procedures in support of clinical testing of human biological samples (e.g. urine, oral fluid). The Bioanalytical Chemist is expected to provide quality ideas and contributions to the assigned challenges and to offer recommendations and knowledge to other Dominion Diagnostics staff.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Develop efficient and selective bioanalytical LC-MS/MS methods.
• Prepares qualification and validation protocols and reports for analytical procedures and instrumentation.
• Experience writing and following SOP’s and working in a regulated laboratory environment (e.g. CAP, CLIA, familiarity with GLP desired).
• Experience with reversed phase chromatography systems optimization and development.
• Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation.
• Communicates effectively in verbal and written form on research results and plans.
• Demonstrates initiative and accountability in handling responsibilities.
• Contributes to the technical growth of the department and company.
• Trains and supports production teams.
• Presents ongoing work and findings to colleagues at Dominion and scientific conferences via. posters, presentations and published papers.
• Participates in self-development activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Job Qualifications:
• BS in biochemistry or chemistry (or would consider BS in any life science) with 3 years of experience, MS in chemistry with 2 years or Ph.D.
• Associate Degree in Science with relevant experience considered.
• Significant experience using LC/MS/MS along with theoretical understanding of underlying chemical mechanisms related to work.
• Experience using ABSciex, Waters tandem quadrupole instruments and Thermo High Resolution Orbitrap LC-MS/MS systems and data acquisition software desired.
• Experience developing bioanalytical methods including sample treatment (dilute and shoot and solid phase extraction).
• Experience using TECAN sample prep robots is a plus.
• Ability to write clear and concise technical reports.
• Experience working for a contract research organization a plus.
• Aptitude for chemistry and a willingness to learn and grow in the field.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Office and statistical software.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
• Physical stamina, including standing for long periods, walking, bending and reaching to perform tests and managing equipment.
• Ability to perform repetitive manual tasks using hands and fingers for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to handle small tools, instruments and laboratory equipment with precision.
• Must be able to wear PPE, such as lab coats, masks, gloves, and eye protection.
• Ability to handle chemicals safely.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
