Job Summary
The Director of Engineering will lead and manage the engineering department, overseeing all technical aspects of product development and ensuring the successful execution of engineering projects. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of engineering principles, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will drive innovation, enhance engineering practices, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear goals and expectations for the engineering team and conduct regular performance assessments.
Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align engineering goals with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Develop and implement engineering strategies, roadmaps, and best practices to enhance product development and operational efficiency.
Project Oversight
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects from conception through to completion.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
Technical Expertise
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the organization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with product management, design, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of engineering efforts with overall business objectives.
- Facilitate communication between engineering and other departments to ensure alignment and resolve any issues.
Budget Management
- Manage the engineering budget, including resource allocation and cost management for engineering projects.
Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate engineering-related risks, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Physical Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, project management methodologies, and relevant software/tools.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on innovation and efficiency.
- Occasional lifting of equipment or materials related to engineering projects (up to 25 lbs).
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk or in meetings.
Salary : $80,000 - $100,000
